Sound massage brings you harmony and balance

Christine Heckel explains ‘heart bowls’

Christine is a fully qualified sound relaxation coach authorised to teach sound massage under the Peter Hess Academy Spain.  Peter Hess has spent 20 years studying the theory and practice of sound massage using therapy singing bowls and has perfected the art of producing authentic singing bowls made in varying sizes, shapes and metallic hues.

The theory behind sound massage is based around the body’s composition; around sixty per cent water. Thereby, sounds and vibrations emitted from the singing bowls cause a ripple effect, clearing blockages and rebalancing the body. Each bowl produces a unique sound and strength of vibration which can be targeted to particular areas of the body.

Professional practitioners will use each bowl for a different area; the head, pelvis, solar plexus and there are also XXL and universal bowls, but the heart, pelvic and universal bowls are the most widely used.  As its name suggests, the ‘universal bowl’ is suitable for use on all areas of the body. Whereas, the heart bowl weighing between 650g and 1300g with a diametre of around 16cm to 22cm, is used to treat the upper body. The larger size is often used by professionals, whilst the smallest heart bowl is usually used for children, but can be used occasionally on adults.
